Amazing...

Mack is amazing ... I am so thankful for this happy, smart, funny, sweet, joyful, trying, clever, loving, silly, loud, questioning, persistent, playful, strong-willed, adorable, fast, ornery, caring, and curious little boy that I get to call my son.

Sometimes we get so busy with life and doing stuff that I need to remind myself to slow down, be patient, and enjoy EVERY moment.

A few weeks ago we were at a football game and sat behind my friend Nancy.  She was wearing a shirt to support her son.  This is what was on the back:

Mack got really excited and said, "Look mom - Nancy has the same name as you, M-O-M!"

(kinda melts your heart, doesn't it?)

so sweet

Homecoming 2013

Homecoming was last week.  We played the Mark Twain Tigers. I love homecoming and the excitement that it brings.  We had a fun week with students getting in the spirit.  And of course, we loved the excitement under the lights on Friday night.  Mack was SUPER pumped about this year's homecoming shirts.

We "tailgate" with friends of ours before and after home games.  Mom and Dad join us when they can.

The week before was a tough week.  We traveled to Macon, MO to play the Tigers.  The game started off with a bang - we scored, they scored, we scored, and then they scored...all in the first minute and 43 seconds of the game, WOW.

We ended up with a loss, which is always tough.

Final Score
Indians     27
Tigers       41

However, it was a beautiful night and I love, love, love taking pictures at the games.

We are now 4-1 and go on the road to play the Palmyra Panthers tomorrow night.

Go Indians!

playdough

In September Mack and I made playdough to go with a book I read with my students at school.  Little Blue and Little Yellow by Leo Lionni.  Mack loved making the playdough and then we also enjoyed reading the book and mixing blue and yellow to make green.

Fun!

Football

Our football season is off to a great start!  We are 3 - 0.  Scott and his coaching staff work hard to prepare the team each week.  Mack and I love to support the team and cheer them on.  Go Indians!

end of summer

We enjoyed absolutely every moment of our summer break.  We all feel refreshed and ready to tackle a new school year.  The end of our summer consisted of football camp, scrimmages, ice cream, and sunshine.

Go Indians!

Last night was our first football game of the season.  We played the Monroe City Panthers and won 41-25.  We have had heat advisories this week and the game start time was pushed back to 8pm.  It made for a late night but I am so excited to get this season off to a good start!

Go get 'em Coach!

camping...

We got home from KC and set up camp in the back yard.  We hung out in the tent all afternoon/evening.

Then we turned on the lantern and got settled in for bed, the locusts were singing (loudly), the stars were out, and there was a comfortable breeze.

Mack sat up and said, "I just can't sleep out here.  I can only sleep in my bed or in a hotel."  lol!
I tried to change his mind but we all ended up back in the house... in our comfy beds.
